Gujarat Braces for Cyclone Biparjoy! Chief Minister Leads Emergency Review Meeting

Cyclone Biparjoy: Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister of Gujarat, convened a review meeting at Gandhinagar’s State Emergency Operation Centre. Cyclone Biparjoy’s landfall process has started and is anticipated to last until after midnight. Meeting Cyclone Biparjoy’s landfall procedure has started, and according to Mrityunjay Mohapatra, Director General of IMD, it will last until midnight. Between Pakistan’s Karachi and Gujarat’s Mandvi, near the Jakhau port, Cyclone Biparjoy has made landfall. Officials from the NDRF in Jamnagar saved two cows that were caught under trees that had fallen due to the effect of the severe winds brought on by Cyclone Biparjoy as it approached the Gujarat coast. Cyclone Biparjoy’s landfall procedure has started, and it will be completed by midnight. The wind speed at landfall is predicted to be between 115 and 125 kph, with gusts up to 140 kph.

15 ships and seven planes geared up for sea rescue operations

As Cyclone Biparjoy approaches the Gujarat coast, the Indian Coast Guard reported that it has prepared 15 ships and seven planes for sea rescue operations. In addition, it has equipped 23 disaster relief teams with 200 lifebuoys, 1000 life jackets, 29 gemini boats, and 50 boats with outboard motors to assist civil authorities.

76 shelters strategically erected in various districts of Gujarat

76 Multipurpose Cyclone Shelters (MPCS) have been erected to assist those who have been evacuated in advance of Cylone Biparjoy’s anticipated landfall. These shelters include 25 in Junagadh, 29 in Gir-Somnath, 4 in Porbandar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, and Kutch, 2 in Amreli, 1 in each of Jamnagar and Navsari, 5 in Bharuch, and 1 in Ahmedabad. The state of Gujarat has also seen the construction of 1512 shelter homes, including 196 in Junagadh, 173 in Kutch, 56 in Jamnagar, 140 in Porbandar, 182 in Devbhoomi Dwarka, 507 in Gir-Somnath, 31 in Morbi, and 236 in Rajkot. Medical professionals visit these shelter homes frequently to assess the health of those who have undergone rehabilitation.
