Shiva Temple demolition: In a shocking turn of events, Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa saw the demolition of Lorda Shiva’s temple. The several decades old temple was located in front of BJP office under the Civil Line police area in the city. The demolition was stopped after several protestors surrounded the site.
Demolition of Shiva temple in Rewa
A Lord Shiva temple was demolished by JCB in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district. This did not go well with localities who demonstrated protest against the action, forcing JCB to stop demolition. As per the official, the temple build near BJP office in Cilvi line, was demolished to build even bigger temple at the place. The official further stated that the district administration was not informed about the temple demolition.
SDM Huzur Anurag Tiwari, who reached on the spot after protestors blocked the site, said, “Prima facie, it appears the temple was razed for renovation purposes however, the police and the local administration weren’t taken into confidence. We weren’t informed.”
Locals create a ruckus
The demolition of decade old temple did not go well with locals who reached on the site to protest. They have alleged a conspiracy behind the demolition which has now been termed beautification. Meanwhile, the SDM had informed locals that a complain has been registered in the matter and a probe is underway.
