Lucknow News

Lucknow News: The Lucknow Traffic Police has responded proactively to the increasing traffic congestion brought on by the increase in the number of vehicles in the city. Heavy vehicle entry will be prohibited as of December 6 until further notice, according to a press release issued by the authorities.

Comprehensive Prohibition

The statement states that a wide range of vehicles are prohibited, such as heavy vehicles linked to construction materials, contract carriages, buses covered by All India Tourist Permits and petrol, diesel and petrol tankers. The Commissionerate of Lucknow is specifically subject to the restriction from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. These vehicles are not allowed to operate during the prohibited hours, which are from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Heavy Vehicles Lose Prior Entry Authorization

In the press release, it was made clear that heavy vehicles are no longer eligible for the prior permit, which was granted on March 15, 2023, for the entry of vehicles involved in the supply of goods and essential services. Furthermore, it is no longer permitted for heavy vehicles carrying building supplies, contract carriages, buses covered by an All India Tourist Permit and petrol/diesel/gas tankers to enter Lucknow’s city limits between the hours of 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. These strict regulations are meant to improve traffic flow and raise the level of road safety in the city as a whole.

Traffic Department’s Action

The Lucknow Police’s Traffic Department has banned the operation of any commercial vehicles on Shaheed Path due to the rising number of accidents. The movement of small to heavy commercial vehicles has been banned along Shaheed Path due to the increasing traffic congestion and accident rates.

DCP Traffic’s Directive

According to a press statement issued by DCP Traffic, Lucknow, “The movement of all small and large commercial vehicles, including pickups and magic vehicles, on Shaheed Path (from Kamta Tirahe to Airport Tirahe) from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, will be restricted.” Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order), Upendra Aggarwal, clarified, “Large commercial vehicles covered by this ban include those transporting oil, gas tankers, construction materials, and contract carriage private buses (All India Permit buses).”
