Indore Jabalpur Overnight Express Accident: Two coaches of the Indore-Jabalpur Overnight Express derailed near Jabalpur Railway Station in Madhya Pradesh early this morning. The incident occurred around 5:50 AM, approximately 150 meters from platform number six as the train was heading towards the station. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported, according to officials.
Harshit Shrivastava, Chief Public Relations Officer of West Central Railway, confirmed that all passengers were safe since the train was moving at a very slow speed at the time of the derailment. “The train was at dead-stop speed when the two coaches derailed. All passengers are safe and have left for home,” Shrivastava said.
The train was coming from Indore and was in the final stages of its journey when the derailment took place. Despite the incident, there was minimal disruption, and operations at the station continued smoothly.
Previous Derailment Incident on Sabarmati Express
This incident follows a similar derailment on August 17, when 22 coaches of the Sabarmati Express were derailed while traveling from Varanasi to Ahmedabad. The derailment occurred between Kanpur and Bhimsen station in Uttar Pradesh. Initial investigations suggest that the train’s engine hit an object placed on the tracks, causing the derailment. Sharp hit marks were observed, but fortunately, no passengers or staff were injured in that incident either.
Officials, including IB and Uttar Pradesh Police, are continuing investigations into the Sabarmati Express derailment. So far, no fractures in the railway track have been detected.
