The Mohan Yadav government has highlighted the progress of its solar-powered agricultural initiatives under the Surya Mitra Krishi Feeder Yojana, aimed at improving irrigation facilities and strengthening farmers’ access to electricity through renewable energy.
According to information shared by the state’s public relations department, more than 27,000 solar pumps have been installed so far under the Kusum-B component of the scheme. The government has also set a target to connect around four lakh pumps to solar energy systems over the next two years.
Mohan Yadav: Large-Scale Installation Under Kusum-C
Officials stated that approximately 2.5 lakh pumps have already been installed under the Kusum-C component of the programme. The initiative is intended to improve power supply for agricultural activities and reduce farmers’ dependence on conventional electricity sources.
The state government also said that nearly 10 lakh farmers are expected to benefit from improved daytime electricity supply through 493 substations linked to the project.
Focus on Farmer Welfare and Renewable Energy
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has emphasized that farmer welfare and agricultural development remain key priorities of the state government. Officials believe that expanding solar-powered irrigation infrastructure can help reduce electricity costs, improve energy efficiency, and support sustainable farming practices.
Authorities also stated that renewable energy-based agricultural systems can contribute to environmental conservation while ensuring more reliable irrigation facilities for farmers.
Push for Sustainable Agricultural Development
The Madhya Pradesh government has been promoting solar energy projects and infrastructure development in the agriculture sector as part of its broader rural development strategy. Officials noted that increasing the use of clean energy in farming can strengthen productivity and improve long-term sustainability in the agricultural economy.
