MP News: A recent decision by the Central Government is set to benefit 5 crore people in Madhya Pradesh, as a significant change has been made to the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. Over 1.5 crore families in the state are expected to see double benefits from the scheme in the month of October.
As part of the new measures, the Central Government has allocated an additional 35 lakh tonnes of wheat under the scheme, which will be distributed until March 2025. This move will directly benefit 1.53 crore underprivileged families in Madhya Pradesh, ensuring increased food security for nearly 5 crore people.
Extra Ration for October
In October, these families will receive 5 additional kilograms of ration. Previously, beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh received 75% wheat and 25% rice under the scheme. Now, it is expected that the allocation of wheat will increase. While official orders are yet to be received, the Commissioner of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department has confirmed that steps will be taken as soon as the directives are issued.
2,800+ Fair Price Shops in Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh has over 2,826 fair price shops that will distribute this additional ration to the 1.5 crore families in the state. Along with wheat, beneficiaries will also receive Shri Anna (millets) as per recent government plans. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had previously instructed the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection to prepare for this change during a recent review meeting.
This initiative is expected to further strengthen the food security network in the state and improve access to essential commodities for low-income families.
