Masterstroke By MK Stalin Ahead of Election? After Bihar, TN CM Eyes Woman Voters, Rs 5000 Credited to 1.3 Cr Accounts

MK Stalin: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced a credit of Rs. 5000 to 1.31 crore women in the state under the Kalaignar scheme.

The government credited Rs. 3000 in advance along with an additional Rs. 2000 as a summer special package ahead of the assembly elections in the state.

Stalin announced on X that the Rs. 3000 payment was in advance for the months of February, March and April. Citing the upcoming elections, Stalin remarked that many people were trying to prevent the women’s rights grant but his government ensured that the funds reached them without any disruption.

Stalin remarked that an amount of Rs. 5000 has been credited today morning to all 1.31 crore women beneficiaries under the Kalaignar Women’s Rights Scheme. The Tamil Nadu CM added that the present monthly assistance of Rs. 1000 would be doubled to Rs. 2000 if his party is voted back to power.

Election Promises

Five election promises were made by All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam including a hike in social security pensions to Rs. 2000 from Rs. 1200 for elderly widows, unmarried elderly women and senior citizens, transgender persons, persons with disabilities and women abandoned by their spouses.

In another development, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by actor Vijay would be addressing 5000 functionaries of his party in Salem. The meeting would be strictly limited to individuals holding entry passes with Quick Response (QR) codes with vehicle checks, heavy police deployment and traffic diversions to ensure safety. It was communicated by the authorities that individuals without passes are urged to view the program via live broadcast channels.

This decision was taken after a previous TVK gathering in September 2025 when 41 people lost their lives.

In the 2021 Assembly elections, Congress won 18 seats, VCK won 4, PMK won 5 and others won 8 while DMK won with 133 seats.
