Jyoti Yadav is a 2019 batch IPS officer and her family lives in Gurugram. On the other hand, 32-year-old Harjot Bains, a lawyer by profession, is from Gambhirpur village of Sri Anandpur Sahib. Bains has headed the youth wing of AAP Punjab. BA LLB (Hons) from Panjab University, Chandigarh in 2014. In 2018, Bains also took a Certificate in International Human Rights Law from the London School of Economics.

Jyoti Yadav, a Punjab cadre IPS officer, came into limelight last year when she got into a public spat with AAP MLA from Ludhiana South, Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina. Chhina had accused Yadav of conducting a search operation in his constituency without informing him. Jyoti Yadav was then appointed as the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Ludhiana.
