Officials said the operations were carried out as part of the state’s ongoing effort to curb the illegal drug trade and dismantle networks involved in the supply and distribution of narcotics. The campaign is being conducted with coordinated action by district police units and specialized anti-narcotics teams.
In addition to enforcement measures, Punjab Police stated that three individuals were counselled and persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment. Authorities have emphasized that the campaign combines strict action against drug traffickers with rehabilitation efforts for individuals struggling with substance abuse.
Police data released with the operation indicated that a total of 66,841 alleged drug smugglers have been arrested since the launch of the anti-drug drive 461 days ago. The government has consistently maintained that reducing drug abuse and disrupting trafficking networks remain among its key law-and-order priorities.
Officials said investigations related to the latest arrests are ongoing and that efforts will continue to identify suppliers, financiers, and other individuals linked to narcotics operations. Punjab Police has reiterated its commitment to pursuing a zero-tolerance approach against drug-related crime while expanding awareness and rehabilitation initiatives across the state.
The anti-drug campaign remains one of the state’s largest ongoing law-enforcement initiatives, with authorities conducting regular raids, seizures, arrests, and community outreach programmes aimed at addressing the issue of substance abuse and illegal drug trafficking.
