Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed a large gathering during a ‘Lok Milni’ programme in Kamalpura village of the Jagraon constituency in Ludhiana district. During the visit, he handed over a cheque of ₹51 lakh to the village sarpanch for carrying out various development works.
The announcement was part of the Chief Minister’s interaction with local residents, where he highlighted the state government’s focus on rural development, farmers’ welfare and financial support for women.
₹51 Lakh for Village Development: Bhagwant Mann
Mann handed over the ₹51 lakh cheque to the village sarpanch, stating that the amount would be used for the overall development of Kamalpura. The assistance is intended to support local development works and improve facilities for residents.
The Chief Minister’s visit also provided an opportunity to interact with villagers and discuss issues concerning the area. He emphasised the importance of taking development initiatives to rural communities.
Daytime Electricity Supply for Farmers
Speaking about farmers’ concerns, Mann said that he himself belonged to an ordinary farming family and understood the difficulties faced by agricultural households.
He said the government had started providing electricity to agricultural motors during the daytime instead of at night to reduce inconvenience for farmers. The move, he said, was aimed at making irrigation-related work easier and helping farmers avoid the difficulties of working in fields during late hours.
Women to Receive Honourarium in Bank Accounts
Mann also addressed women and urged them to keep their bank accounts and ATM cards ready, saying that the promised honourarium would soon be transferred directly into their accounts.
