The accused was found to be involved in large-scale heroin smuggling and had recently received a significant consignment of the drug, transported via drone from Pakistan. Authorities believe that this network had been using drones to bypass border security measures and facilitate the illegal import of narcotics.

An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Gharinda Police Station, and further investigations are underway. Law enforcement agencies are now working to identify other individuals linked to the smuggling network and trace the origins of the operation.

The use of drones for drug trafficking has emerged as a growing concern in Punjab, with smugglers increasingly relying on technology to evade law enforcement. However, the Punjab Police remain vigilant in their efforts to curb the drug menace and ensure the safety of citizens.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and dismantling organized smuggling operations that pose a threat to society. The latest seizure is one of the biggest in 2025, highlighting the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in tackling narcotics smuggling across the India-Pakistan border
