Harjinder Dhami asks Punjab govt to stop release of ‘Dastaan-e-Sirhind’

The upcoming film ‘Dastan-e-Sirhind’ seems to be mired in controversy. Due to this, many organizations are demanding a ban on the release, alleging distortion of history in the film. In this episode, on Wednesday, Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Harjinder Singh Dhami also demanded the Punjab government to stop the release of the film ‘Dastan-e-Sirhind’.

The SGPC president said in a statement that the film humanises the ‘sahibzadas’ (sons) of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, which has led to huge protests among the ‘sangat’ (Sikh community).

No one is above the feelings of ‘Sangat’

He said that many organizations and associations are expressing their opposition to the demand to ban this film. Many objections regarding this film have also reached SGPC. No one is above the feelings of ‘Sangat’, so representing the same, the release of this film should be stopped immediately.

He said that the Punjab government should take immediate action in this regard and also the censor board should reconsider its decision.
