Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Absent as Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates National Highways

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated 29 national highways in Punjab with a total investment of Rs 4,000 crore. However, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was notably absent from the event, drawing criticism from BJP leaders present at the venue.

Despite the presence of several leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), including Rajya Sabha MPs Balbir Singh Seechewal and Ashok Mittal, and Sham Chaurasi MLA Dr. Ravjot Singh, CM Mann chose not to attend the inauguration. The event had arrangements for all leaders, including chairs on the stage for the CM and Punjab PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO.

CM Mann’s Absence Draws Criticism During Union Minister Gadkari’s Infrastructure Announcement

The stones laid by Nitin Gadkari digitally displayed the names of both Gadkari and CM Mann. BJP State Chief Sunil Jakhar expressed his displeasure at Mann’s absence during his speech, emphasizing the importance of leaders participating in events where Union ministers announce significant projects for the state.

Jakhar raised questions about AAP leaders leaving the venue upon learning about the CM’s absence. He suggested that even if bad weather prevented Mann from attending, such conditions had persisted for over 10 days, and the CM would have been aware of it.

The absence of the Punjab Chief Minister during the infrastructure announcement event led to a discussion on the significance of political leaders participating in such occasions, especially when Union ministers make important announcements for the state.
