In view of possible threats to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann from both domestic and international sources, the Centre has granted him “Z-plus” category armed security protection, according to official sources.
The Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) VIP protection squad will look after the 49-year-old, according to their statement.
According to the sources, Mann will receive top-category “Z-plus” coverage throughout all of India after receiving recent approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
They claimed that a team of 55 armed individuals has been designated for the duty, which the CRPF will soon take over.
The latest security cover will secure the chief minister’s home and immediate family members in addition to the Punjab Police protection, according to the sources.
In light of Khalistani activity in the border state, they said that the central intelligence and security agencies advised such a security cover for Mann while putting together a “threat perception analysis” report for the chief minister.
