At a recent meeting with additional deputy commissioners (general) from all districts, Janjua underscored the pivotal role of ADCs in enforcing the Punjab Transparency and Accountability Act. As appellate authorities under the Act, ADCs are empowered to receive citizen appeals and take suo-motu action against officials who fail to deliver services on time.

"Timely delivery of services is paramount, and penalties for delays are necessary to ensure accountability," said Janjua. He emphasized that citizens have the right to appeal delays, and ADCs must impose fines on officials who fail to meet deadlines. To monitor compliance, ADCs are required to submit monthly reports to the commission, detailing the status of pending notified services in their districts and actions taken against defaulting officials.
To further enhance transparency, the government has directed ADCs to install informational boards at all Sewa Kendras, listing available notified services alongside the contact details of designated officials and appellate officers. This measure aims to empower citizens by making information about government services more accessible.
The Punjab government, under Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, continues to push for reforms that ensure efficiency in public service delivery, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and good governance.
