Punjab News: CM Bhagwant Mann Accuses Opposition Leaders of Theatrics on SYL Canal Issue

Punjab News: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann responded to opposition leaders’ criticism regarding the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue, accusing them of engaging in theatrics to mislead the state’s people. He named BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar, Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal, and Congress leaders Partap Singh Bajwa and Amrinder Singh Raja Warring in his remarks.

Mann questioned whether these leaders carried any sense of shame and urged them to remember their ancestors’ actions before shedding crocodile tears over the contentious SYL issue. He alleged that these selfish political leaders had participated in the planning and execution of the canal’s construction for their vested interests.

Mann pointed out that former Union Minister Balram Jakhar

Mann pointed out that former Union Minister Balram Jakhar and Captain Amarinder Singh had accompanied then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for the groundbreaking ceremony of the SYL canal, and former Haryana Chief Minister Devi Lal had praised his Punjab counterpart Parkash Singh Badal for allowing the canal’s survey.

He concluded by stating that history would never forgive these leaders for backstabbing Punjab. The opposition leaders have criticized Mann’s government for failing to safeguard the state’s interests in the SYL issue.
