In a strong and decisive move against the drug menace, the AAP-led Punjab Government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has unveiled its next major strategy — a ground-level campaign titled “Nasha Mukti Yatra”.
'Mann Government Launches Major Anti-Drug Campaign, Village-Ward Level Nasha Mukti Yatra Announced'
As tweeted by the official AAP Punjab handle, “ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਖ਼ਾਤਮੇ ਲਈ ਮਾਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਵਿੱਢੀ ਅਗਲੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ! ਹਰ ਪਿੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਰਡ 'ਚ ਕੱਢੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ 'ਨਸ਼ਾ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ’”, indicating a statewide mobilization effort that will penetrate every village and ward of Punjab.
This move is being seen as a direct response to the growing concerns around substance abuse in the state
This move is being seen as a direct response to the growing concerns around substance abuse in the state. The yatra aims to spread awareness, offer on-ground counseling, involve local youth and volunteers, and mobilize community-led vigilance. According to sources within the administration, the campaign will also include health check-ups, de-addiction assistance, and active participation from schools and panchayats.
CM Bhagwant Mann has repeatedly vowed a drug-free Punjab, and this mass-level campaign appears to be a follow-up to that commitment. The government is also expected to announce further steps in terms of police coordination, surveillance, and rehab center strengthening in the coming weeks.
Political analysts believe this campaign could also become a crucial outreach tool for the AAP government ahead of any upcoming elections, especially as the issue of drug abuse remains politically sensitive in the state.
