Punjab Police Conducts State-Wide Special Checking Under OPS Eagle

Pathankot police launched a massive five-hour long search operation (Operation Eagle) in search of gangsters and other criminal elements.

Hundreds of employees under the leadership of SSP Pathankot Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh conducted a search operation from 11 am to 5 pm at all public places including Pathankot Cantt, City Railway Station, Bus Stand and blockade at various places in the city.

SSP, 2 SP, 6 DSP, 10 SHO, 26 Inspector/SI and 132 other personnel were involved in this campaign. Apart from this, a special naka has been set up at every police station level in the entire district under the supervision of DSP level officer.

Pathankot SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that the aim of the operation is to search all the bus stands and railway stations in the district to identify the suspects.

Each thana was supervised by a Superintendent of Police level officer. Every search operation was headed by an SP level officer. Apart from this, nakas were set up in every police station area under the leadership of DSP to check the drivers.

He said that the police teams checked all the people at the bus stand and railway station. Apart from this, suspicious people and vehicles are also being investigated.

SSP Khakh informed that during the search operation at 10 major check posts, suspicious vehicles and persons have been checked and Vahan application has been used to trace the ownership of the vehicles.

Apart from this, the police ensured that people were not harassed during the search. SSP Khakh said that a similar search operation would be conducted in the coming times to curb criminal activities.
