Punjab Police have compiled detailed criminal records of nearly 100 wanted criminals, with 20 of them suspected to be hiding in the United States. This development coincides with the first flight of deported illegal immigrants arriving in India under the US crackdown on unlawful migration.
Punjab Police Strengthen Case Files for Extradition
A senior police official stated that although it is unlikely that the deportation flight will carry any high-profile criminals, Punjab Police have been actively working on finalizing case files to facilitate extradition and deportation. The Counter-Intelligence Unit, Anti-Narcotics Task Force, and Anti-Gangster Task Force have been involved in maintaining and updating these criminal records.
Following US President Donald Trump's strict stance on illegal immigration and criminal deportation, Punjab Police have increased their focus on tracking and expediting legal action against wanted criminals residing abroad. A key target of these efforts is Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) head Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, who has allegedly encouraged illegal immigration from Punjab.
Key Criminals on Punjab Police’s Radar
Among the notable wanted criminals believed to be hiding in the US are:
Anmol Bishnoi – Accused in the Sidhu Moosewala murder and younger brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi
Happy Passia – Allegedly involved in recent grenade attacks on police installations in Punjab
Sarwan Bhola – Notorious drug smuggler
Gopi Nawanshehria – Wanted in multiple organized crime cases
Police sources confirmed that Red Corner Notices (RCNs) and other legal requisites are being processed to facilitate their extradition or deportation.
Authorities in Touch with MEA, MHA, and NIA
So far, Punjab Police have not received detailed information about the deported individuals’ identities from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), or the National Investigation Agency (NIA). However, the department is closely monitoring illegal immigration networks and investigating the role of travel agents who facilitate unlawful migration via donkey routes and other illegal channels.
Crackdown on International Criminal Networks
The ongoing deportation process raises hopes that US authorities may expedite action against Punjab-based gangsters operating from American soil. Punjab Police remain vigilant and proactive, ensuring that criminal elements are brought to justice through legal channels and international cooperation.
