Punjab Police: In a major development, the Punjab Police, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, achieved a significant breakthrough in combating terrorism. A joint operation between the Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh Police led to the neutralization of three key operatives from the Pak-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), a notorious terror group linked to Pakistan.
The Joint Operation Against Terrorism
On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, shared details of the operation. The Punjab Police, along with UP Police, successfully conducted a joint operation in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, targeting a terror module associated with the KZF. This action followed the group's involvement in multiple attacks, including grenade strikes on police posts in Punjab's border areas.
During the operation, the three operatives fired at the police team but were swiftly neutralized. The police recovered two AK-47 rifles and two Glock pistols from the criminals. These individuals were allegedly responsible for a grenade attack at a police post in Gurdaspur, Punjab.
The Terrorists Involved
The three terrorists involved in the encounter were identified as Varender Singh alias Ravi, Gurvinder Singh, and Jashanpreet Singh alias Pratap Singh. The attack in Gurdaspur had targeted the police post Bakshiwala. According to initial investigations, the terror module was being controlled by Ranjit Singh Neeta, the chief of KZF, who is believed to be operating from Pakistan. The operations were mainly carried out through Jaswinder Singh Manu, based in Greece.
Injuries and Death of the Operatives
The three injured terrorists were immediately taken to the CHC Puranpur for treatment. However, after receiving initial medical care, they were transferred to the district hospital. Pilibhit SP Avinash Pandey confirmed that, despite efforts to save them, the operatives were declared dead upon arrival. The authorities also recovered two AK-47 rifles, two foreign-made Glock pistols, and a large amount of ammunition from the scene of the encounter.
Ongoing Investigations and Future Developments
The joint operation has led to a deeper investigation into the KZF's operations. Preliminary findings have linked the group to ISI-sponsored terrorism, raising concerns over the increasing international involvement. As the investigation continues, more arrests and recoveries are expected.
