There has been a big change in the opening time of government offices in Punjab. From today (Tuesday), government offices in Punjab will open from 7:30 am and will function till 2 pm. This is the first time that the timings of government offices have been changed in the state. Orders in this regard have also been issued to all the departments. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said that everyone will benefit from this new initiative.
Earlier, CM Bhagwant Mann had informed about this by tweeting on Monday. He had said that from May 2, all government offices in Punjab would remain open from 7:30 am to 2 pm. I myself will go to my office at 7:30 am. He said, a new initiative has been taken by our government, which will have many benefits and I look forward to the cooperation of the people of Punjab in this initiative. It is being said that this step has been taken by the Punjab government to save electricity.
Earlier leave had to be taken for government work
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that earlier the office opening time used to be at nine o’clock. People had to take the whole day off for government work. However, now the offices will open at 7.30 am, people can get work done till 8 am. He said, there will be terrible heat in the coming months of June-July. In such a situation, people will be benefited by changing the official timings. He said, we have taken a new initiative, which has never happened in the country. People will benefit from this.
Hospitals will open from eight o’clock, however, there has been no change in the opening time of government hospitals in Punjab. The hospitals will open from eight in the morning as before and will provide their services till two in the morning. An order in this regard has been issued by the Health Department. Emergency services will be available 24 hours.
