Punjab Weather Update: A hailstorm struck Chandigarh, Zirakpur, Kharar, and Mohali as widespread rainfall occurred in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday. Despite the rain, minimum temperatures in the region stayed above normal.
Hailstorm Hits Chandigarh
Cities including Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Faridkot, and Mohali in Punjab, as well as Ambala, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak, and Bhiwani in Haryana, witnessed rainfall, as reported by the Meteorological Department.
Minimum Temperatures Remain Above Normal as Several Cities Experience Rainfall
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 9.3 degrees Celsius, marking a deviation of four notches above the season’s average. Ludhiana and Patiala both registered a minimum temperature of 12.4 degrees Celsius each.
Other cities in Punjab, including Pathankot, Bathinda, Gurdaspur, and Faridkot, reported minimum temperatures of 10.4 degrees Celsius, 11.2 degrees Celsius, 10.3 degrees Celsius, and 10.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Haryana, Ambala and Hisar recorded minimum temperatures of 11.8 degrees Celsius and 11.2 degrees Celsius, respectively, up to four degrees above normal.
Chandigarh experienced a minimum temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius, representing a three-notch deviation above normal.
