Jaipur News: In a major infrastructure upgrade, Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur has rolled out a valet parking service, becoming the first government hospital in Rajasthan to offer such a service. According to a report, valet service is a much-needed solution to the chronic congestion and disorganized parking that has plagued one of the busiest medical centres in the state.

The valet service is especially useful during hospital peak hours because it creates a more coherent flow of access for patients, visitors, and even emergency vehicles. Sporadic parking, for the first time, can block ambulance access, delay the response time for emergency medicine, and create unnecessary stress on staff and patients.

Patient Convenience Comes First: Timings and Functionality

The newly launched valet parking service at SMS Hospital operates every day from 8 AM to 8 PM and has been a significant relief to patients and families trying to navigate a busy hospital. There are designated drop-off points inside the hospital grounds so that visitors can drop off their vehicle to qualified staff, who then have a handover process to park their vehicles safely in organised hospital parking areas.

This service is especially useful for elderly patients, patients with limited mobility and families from rural areas who are unfamiliar with urban traffic conditions. Hospital staff and visitors have appreciated the move to valet service, as it is a progressive step towards patient care, comfort and visitor experience.

Urban Challenges, Smart Solutions

Isolated in the busiest area of Jaipur city, SMS Hospital has for decades struggled with acute urban adversities such as congested traffic, encroachment of vehicles in unauthorized parking areas and extensive mobility barriers near the hospital's entry and exit gates. The mentioned issues related to traffic not only undermined the normal functioning of the hospital but also negatively affected ambulance responses and endangered the safety of patients and even staff.

To address these issues, the institution implemented a valet-service program that is now part of a practical, necessary intervention that will reduce elements of congestion and improve traffic and patient experience. It is part of a backward operational and situational measure to the pressures related to healthcare support facing a rapidly developing metropolis.
