NIA arrests accused from Rajasthan in PFI case

The NIA has found clues to reveal the role of PFI in the Kanhaiyalal murder case in Udaipur. According to sources, the NIA has arrested Mohd Sohail, Udaipur district president of PFI’s political wing SDPI. Sohail was in contact with Gaus Mohammad, the main accused in the Kanhaiyalal murder case. There was a demonstration in Udaipur before the Kanhaiyalal murder. In which slogans of ‘Sir Tan Se Juda’ were raised and a conspiracy was hatched to kill Kanhaiyalal, Sohail was also involved in it.

Conspiracy hatched to radicalize Muslim youth for violent and illegal activities

Launching a campaign against PFI worker cadres, the NIA has arrested the accused Mohd Sohail from Udaipur in Rajasthan on February 10. He was taken into NIA custody early in the morning. His active role in spreading communal hatred and criminal conspiracy of PFI has come to the fore. Sources reveal that Soleh, a resident of Udaipur, conspired with PFI cadres and members to radicalize Muslim youth for violent and illegal activities. Soleh is said to be the District President of SDPI Udaipur. Earlier, the NIA had arrested Sadiq Saraf and Mohd Asif in the case. The case was initially registered on 19 September 2022 at NIA Headquarters New Delhi. After this arrest, now the total number of arrests in the case has gone up to 3.

Involved in conspiracy to incite communal hatred, violent and illegal act

The suspect, identified as Mohd Sohail, was arrested on Friday during a search operation it conducted in coordination with state police forces, the NIA said on Saturday. He is involved in conspiracy to commit violent and illegal acts, further investigation is likely to emerge. The anti-terror agency said Sohail is accused of actively participating in the criminal conspiracy of the PFI to disturb peace and spread communal hatred and enmity. He is a resident of Murshid Nagar in Udaipur.

PFI was banned by the Ministry of Home Affairs last year

The Ministry of Home Affairs declared the PFI, its affiliates as unlawful associations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and banned them for a period of 5 years at the end of September 2022. PFI activists are also alleged to have been involved in several terrorist acts and murder of individuals including Sanjith (Kerala, 2021), V-Ramalingam (Tamil Nadu, 2019), Nandu (Kerala, 2021), Abhimanyu (Kerala, 2018). Bibin (Kerala, 2017), Sharath (Kamatak, 2017), R Rudresh (Kamatak, 2016), Praveen Puyari (Karnataka, 2016), and Shashi Kumar (Tamil Nadu, 2016). Members of PFI had killed BJP’s Yuva Morcha district committee member Praveen Netaru last year on 26 July 2022 at Bellare village in Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka.
