In a significant boost to railway infrastructure, the central government has allocated ₹9,960 crore to Rajasthan in the latest railway budget. This marks a ₹1 crore increase from the previous year’s budget. The announcement was made by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during a video conference on Monday.
As part of the government’s ambitious plan to expand the Vande Bharat train network, Vaishnaw confirmed that over 200 new Vande Bharat trains will be introduced across the country. Rajasthan is expected to benefit significantly from this expansion, with ten new Vande Bharat trains likely to be allotted to the state.
New Vande Bharat Routes for Rajasthan
Railway officials have indicated that two new Vande Bharat trains are set to commence operations by the end of this month or early next month. These trains will run on the following routes:
Jaipur to Jodhpur
Udaipur to Ahmedabad
These additions aim to improve connectivity and reduce travel time, offering passengers a faster and more comfortable journey.
Boost for Maintenance Infrastructure
The budget has also allocated funds for the under-construction maintenance depot in Khatipura, Jaipur. This facility is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will play a crucial role in the upkeep of Vande Bharat and other trains.
Once operational, the Khatipura depot will become a major hub for train maintenance in the region, ensuring better efficiency and service quality.
The allocation of funds and the expansion of Vande Bharat services highlight the central government’s commitment to modernizing railway infrastructure in Rajasthan, enhancing travel experiences, and promoting economic growth in the region.
