UP News: 'Mother's Milk Bank' was inaugurated in Agra on Tuesday with the goal of making sure that every baby in Uttar Pradesh receives breast milk, which is essential for immunity. This facility will gather human milk, filter it, pasteurise it, and give it to low-income moms who are unable to breastfeed their infants. This will help the children grow up healthy and prevent infections.
A Vital Resource for Infants Denied Mother's Milk
In addition to nursing their children, senior health officials in Agra urged nursing mothers to donate their breast milk to the bank. According to the officials, children who were denied access to their mother's milk would be given life support by the lactarium.
A Detailed Process for Agra's Mother Milk Bank
Any nursing mother who has finished feeding her child can donate the leftover breast milk to the Mother Milk Bank. The milk can be refrigerated by the donors after being filled into a stainless steel container. After that, it can be transported to the bank in a chilled bag filled with dry ice. In order to determine whether the donor mother has any illnesses, the milk will be examined in the bank. The milk will be approved for distribution following testing. The launch of the milk bank, according to Chief Medical Officer Dr. Arun Srivastava, is a "significant achievement" in ensuring children's immunity and good upbringing.
Long-Term Storage and Social Considerations of Breast Milk Donation
Mother's milk may be securely stored and used for a year at minus 20 degrees in the freezer, according to senior public health specialist Deepak J Dawe, who was involved in the establishment of the human milk banks in India. In the meantime, he pointed out that, in contrast to those from lower socioeconomic classes, women from higher social classes continue to be reluctant to give breast milk. Breast milk banks are seen as an essential component of the medical system because of the significant role they play in promoting the health and wellbeing of infants and families.
