Sanskrit-medium secondary schools will soon be established in ten districts of Uttar Pradesh. Varanasi, Rae Bareli, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Shamli, Jalaun, Etah, Amethi, and Hardoi are the ten districts where the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government will launch these new schools. This is a part of a state government project to advance Sanskrit introduction in Uttar Pradesh. Currently, only one Sanskrit secondary and one government school is operating in the entire state.
Uttar Madhyama school Yogi Adityanath govt’s top priorit
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh’s top priority remains Uttar Madhyama (intermediate-level) Sanskrit schools. Officials from the state directorate of education have formally requested the allocation of funding for the construction of these new Sanskrit schools after receiving the state government’s in principle approval, they noted.

The state government has also allocated Rs 100 crore in the 2023–24 budget for the development of Sanskrit schools. The government is also preparing to open intermediate-level Government Sanskrit Secondary Schools in five other districts Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, and Mathura. These five states will be developed as the religious hubs in the state.
Stipend to students studying Sanskrit
With the aim to promote Sanskrit learning in the state, the state government has set up a proposal to increase the scholarship for the purpose of encouraging the students. All the students will now be provided with a stipend which would vary from Rs 300 to Rs 2100 depending on percentage of marks of the students.
