Deharadun News: Delhi Man Arrested for Running Fraudulent Share Trading Websites Using M2M SIM Cards

Dehradun News: Uttarakhand cyber police, in collaboration with the Special Task Force (STF), apprehended a 29-year-old man from Delhi, identified as Mudassar Mirza, on Wednesday. The arrest was made in connection with an ongoing investigation into a case where a resident of Dehradun was defrauded of Rs 80 lakh through fraudulent share trading websites.

Delhi Man Arrested for Running Fraudulent Share Trading Websites Using M2M SIM Cards

Mirza was found in possession of approximately 3,000 machine-to-machine (M2M) SIM cards, suspected to be used for deceiving individuals through illicit share trading platforms. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had procured around 45,000 M2M SIM cards from two telecom operators using a forged corporate ID associated with his fraudulent enterprise.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police, State Cyber Police, Ankush Mishra, highlighted the challenges faced by law enforcement in tracking cyber criminals who employ M2M SIM cards. These cards are often deactivated after a single use, making it difficult for authorities to trace their activities.

Concern over the use of M2M SIM cards in cyber crimes

An anonymous police officer involved in the investigation expressed concern over the use of M2M SIM cards in cyber crimes, emphasizing that such cards could potentially be utilized for anti-national activities. The arrest sheds light on the evolving tactics employed by cyber criminals in executing fraudulent schemes.
