Uttarakhand News: District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauri and Regional MLA Shiv Arora jointly flagged the first flight from the Pantnagar Airport to Naukuchiatal (Bhimtal) under the central government’s ambitious Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme.
Operated by Pawan Hans, the helicopter services would direct connect the gateway of Kumaon (Pantnagar) to several mountain tourist destinations.

The helicopter services were inaugurated traditionally by breaking a coconut and then cutting a ribbon. The helicopter services would require only 30-45 minutes reaching prominent destinations such as Almora, Nainital and Dehradun from Pantnagar.

MLA Shiv Arora hailed the service as a significant tourist achievement for the entire region. Arora remarked that cities like Dehradun, Almora and Pantnagar are today getting connected via air thanks to the vision of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The MLA also remarked that the launch of the helicopter services would boost tourism in the state of Uttarakhand while also offering the easiest and quickest mode of transportation who are coming from the border areas of Uttar Pradesh and the Nepal border.
Noida And Delhi Connection Soon
District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria remarked that a series of steps have been implemented and many are under progress to upgrade the Pantnagar Airport to state-of-the-art international standards. Bhaduria added that the airport would soon be connected directly to the Noida’s Jewar Airport and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The DM also said that the airport’s development would significantly help the industrial houses of Udham Singh Nagar while also creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs and investment opportunities.
Bhadauria also remarked that the airport service is also a welcome step for tourists who want to relish the natural beauty of the Himalayan valleys in a short time.
The launch is expected to bring in thousands of new tourists every week to help small businesses like catering, hospitality and roadside vendors earn more.
