Ayodhya, under CM Yogi’s leadership, emerges as a hub of prosperity amid rising pilgrimage tourism

Ayodhya religious tourism surge after the Ram Temple construction is boosting the local economy, increasing jobs, and helping small businesses grow with rising daily earnings.

The surge in religious tourism following the construction of the Ram Temple has given Ramnagari’s economy a significant boost, creating ample employment opportunities for local residents. Shopkeepers selling puja items, prasad, and souvenirs in and around the temple area, including Rampath, Kanak Bhawan, and Shri Hanumangarhi Marg, are witnessing a remarkable rise in income.

Jitendra Kumar Gupta, owner of Shri Gayatri Bhog Prasad Bhandar on Hanumangarhi Marg, shared that his daily turnover has increased from ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 since the temple’s construction. He credits the Yogi government’s efforts for making Ayodhya “divine, grand, and modern,” and expects business to grow further following upcoming temple events and the flag hoisting ceremony.

Similarly, Shyamji Rai, who runs a puja items shop near Kanak Bhawan, reported a fourfold increase in business. Once a laborer, he now manages his shop and highlights that employment opportunities in Ayodhya have risen, migration has slowed, and local residents are becoming self-reliant.

Prashant Gupta of Gupta Ji Chandan Wale, opposite Kanak Bhawan, also testifies to the city’s economic revival. Daily sales have surged from ₹2,000 to ₹25,000, turning previously challenging business operations into substantial profits. Enhancements in cleanliness, beautification, and traffic management have further supported this growth.

Jai Narayan Mishra, operator of Jai Poojan Murti and Samagri Bhandar, observed that business once relied heavily on seasonal fairs, with only 100 customers per day. Today, his shop welcomes over 1,200 customers daily, with earnings reaching ₹10,000 a day.

The widening of roads, removal of encroachments, and systematic development of religious tourism facilities have strengthened small businesses and bolstered confidence among local traders. For Ayodhya’s residents, the temple is not only a spiritual center but also a beacon of employment and prosperity.

Locals hope that in the years ahead, Ayodhya will emerge as a world-class pilgrimage city, further reinforcing its economic growth and global stature.
