According to the Basic Education Council’s release, all council schools and recognised schools run by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council will continue to allow students to advance from class 1 to class 8 for the academic year 2022–2023 without restriction.
According to the regulations, students in grades 1 to 8 will be promoted to the next class. Report cards for these kids will be sent out, on which their performance will be evaluated based on yearly exams and evaluations.
A provision of the Right to Education Act allows for the promotion of students in grades 1 to 8 to the following class. The act prohibit, in any situation, the retention of students in this class.
“The promotion of any student from classes 1 to 8 will not be stopped in the academic session 2022-23 in council and recognized schools run under the council,” said Pratap Singh Baghel, Secretary, of Basic Education Council.
According to Vijay Kiran Anand, director general of school education, the state government does not have a retention policy that ensures that no child would fail. He adds that the order was issued in compliance with the RTE Act and that it is carried out annually.
“Its objective is to encourage the children by promoting them to the next classes along with providing them uninterrupted quality education to ensure their all-round development,” he added.
The day of the release of the yearly results will also feature a meeting of the school management committee. Students and parents will both see the evaluated answer sheets and prepared report cards at the same time.
The full marks and relative marks to 100 marks will be converted to give students their grades. According to Vijay Kiran, teachers would prepare students’ report cards by consulting the order from the previous year. The principals of the schools will provide these report cards to the students.
