Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has highlighted the growing global presence of Bhadohi’s handmade carpet industry, linking the district’s traditional craftsmanship with export opportunities, infrastructure development and employment.
According to Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh’s exports have crossed ₹2 lakh crore, while Bhadohi’s carpets have made a significant contribution to the state’s export economy. Government data also confirms that Uttar Pradesh’s exports have crossed the ₹2 lakh crore mark.
CM Yogi Adityanath Highlights Bhadohi Carpet Industry
Yogi Adityanath said Bhadohi’s carpet-making tradition has increasingly been connected with markets outside India. He highlighted the role of local artisans whose handmade carpets have contributed to the recognition of Uttar Pradesh’s craftsmanship in international markets.
Bhadohi is a major handmade carpet cluster, and the Centre has identified the region as an important hub for carpet production and exports. The Bhadohi-Mirzapur region has also received government support for strengthening its carpet cluster.
India Carpet Expo’s Golden Jubilee Edition
The Chief Minister also referred to the Golden Jubilee edition of the India Carpet Expo, describing it as Asia’s largest international handmade carpet trade fair. The event provides a platform for carpet exporters, sellers, entrepreneurs and buyers to interact and explore business opportunities.
The carpet industry has a substantial export base. Government information notes that India exports a large share of its handmade carpet production to international markets, with Indian carpets reaching countries across North America, Europe, Asia and other regions.
₹1,340 Crore Development Projects in Bhadohi
According to Yogi Adityanath’s announcement, more than ₹1,340 crore worth of 112 development projects will be associated with Bhadohi, Aurai and Gyanpur Assembly constituencies.
The Chief Minister also said beneficiaries of various government schemes would receive benefits during the programme, linking the event with both infrastructure development and welfare delivery.
