In Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, a Dalit man was attacked, his face was blackened, and his head was shaved after he was accused of stealing a toilet seat.
Radheshyam Mishra, a local BJP leader, and two of his supporters are accused of tying Rajesh Kumar to a pole, blackening his face, and beating him on Tuesday, according to officials. They charged him with robbing a toilet seat out of a home in the Hardi neighborhood of the district.
A mob assaulted Rajesh Kumar, 30, a daily wage worker, blackening his face and shaving his skull down the middle in viral videos.

Mishra is missing, but according to the police, his two assistants have been taken into custody.
In the visuals which capture the assault on Mr. Kumar, a crowd can be seen cheering on and recording videos as his head is shaved and his face blackened.
Mr. Kumar claimed that the regional BJP leader and his followers had also spoken in caste-based terms.
To prosecute crimes against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, the accused has been charged with assault, criminal intimidation, and other offenses.
"Two people have been arrested and the search is on for the third accused. If they suspected him of theft, they should have come to the police," the officer said.
