Doctors refuse to touch HIV positive pregnant woman in UP

The inhuman face of the health department was seen in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh. Due to the negligence of the doctors, a child died soon after birth.

Actually a relative had taken the HIV-positive woman to the government hospital after she had labor pains. When the doctors came to know that the woman was HIV positive, they refused to touch her. The woman kept screaming in pain for a long time. When CMS came to know about this, they reprimanded the doctors, but by then it was too late.
The woman’s child died soon after delivery.

The parents of the woman told that the daughter was first taken to a private hospital due to labor pain. There the doctors asked for 20 thousand rupees. Due to lack of money, we took her to the medical college.

Here, when the doctors were told that the daughter is also HIV positive, they did not even touched her.

She was screaming in pain on the stretcher. Then we called the in-charge of the medical college. After his intervention, the operation was done at 9.30 pm.

The principal of the medical college got the investigation done

The parents told that the daughter was suffering from labor pain for about six hours, but not a single doctor was ready to take care of her. On the other hand, Sangeeta Aneja, principal of the medical college, told that the patient had come at around 3 pm. The people who were with the patient did not inform the doctors or anyone about her being HIV positive. As soon as I came to know, I came here and formed an inquiry committee.

Pregnant suffered on stretchers for six hours

I have talked to everyone. They told me that the woman was examined like a regular patient. The delivery of the woman took place around 9 pm. She got it investigated. The investigation report has also come. If someone has done something wrong, we will take action. On the other hand, a field officer of an NGO associated with the National AIDS Control Organization told that I had admitted the woman to the hospital at three in the afternoon. When we put her on a stretcher, none of the staff refused to touch her or do any investigation. The woman continued to suffer from pain till nine o’clock in the night, yet no one touched her.
