Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure that every eligible and needy person is provided an Ayushman card, so that no one faces difficulty in accessing medical treatment.
The instructions were issued during a ‘Janata Darshan’ programme in Gorakhpur, where the Chief Minister reviewed public grievances and interacted directly with citizens.
CM Yogi Adityanath: Focus on universal health coverage
Yogi Adityanath emphasized that no patient’s treatment should be halted due to lack of money, underlining the importance of expanding coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).
Strengthening welfare delivery
The directive aims to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are enrolled under the scheme, which provides financial assistance for hospitalization and medical care, particularly to economically weaker sections.
Administrative accountability
Officials have been instructed to actively identify beneficiaries and expedite the process of issuing Ayushman cards, ensuring that the benefits of the scheme reach the grassroots level without delays.
Ground-level implementation focus
Authorities have also been asked to conduct awareness drives so that eligible families are informed about the scheme and the process of obtaining Ayushman cards, reducing gaps in enrollment.
Relief for vulnerable sections
The initiative is expected to benefit low-income households, daily wage earners, and rural populations, who often struggle to afford quality healthcare services. Ensuring coverage can significantly reduce out-of-pocket medical expenses.
Monitoring and review mechanisms
The state government is likely to closely monitor the progress of enrollment and service delivery, with regular reviews to ensure that no eligible individuals left out of the scheme.
Public health priority
The move reflects the state government’s continued focus on improving healthcare accessibility and affordability, with emphasis on preventing financial hardship due to medical expenses.
