CM Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended warm greetings to devotees across the country on the start of Shravan Maas, welcoming all those undertaking the annual Kanwar Yatra and wishing them a safe, peaceful pilgrimage. Praising the devotion of Lord Shiva’s followers, he closed his message with the traditional chant “Har Har Mahadev,” conveying hopes for peace, health, and prosperity through the holy month.
Comprehensive State Arrangements
The Kanwar Yatra 2026 officially commenced across Uttar Pradesh on the first day of Sawan, with the state government rolling out wide-ranging measures to ensure a safe and well-organised pilgrimage for the millions of devotees expected to participate. Officials have been directed to focus on security, traffic management, sanitation, and medical assistance along the entire route.
High-Level Review by the Chief Minister
CM Yogi personally chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations, directing officials to ensure cleanliness, drinking water, canteens, rest areas, and toilets are in place along the Yatra path. He laid particular emphasis on the safety of women Kanwariyas, calling for adequate deployment of women police personnel, and ordered 24×7 surveillance in sensitive areas using drone cameras and CCTV.
Helicopter Flower Showers Planned
As part of the celebratory arrangements, the government has scheduled helicopter flower showers for Kanwariyas travelling along major routes in western Uttar Pradesh on August 9 and 10, with a detailed district-wise schedule issued covering areas including Baghpat and Saharanpur. Assistance camps offering refreshments such as shikanji and cold water have also been set up along the route.
Security and Discipline Appeals
Alongside the festive arrangements, CM Yogi has appealed to devotees to maintain discipline throughout the journey, warning that anti-social elements attempting to provoke disruption or misuse the pilgrimage on social media would be identified and dealt with strictly.
With the Yatra scheduled to run through mid-August, the state administration says its focus will remain on road repairs, uninterrupted power and water supply, and continuous monitoring to ensure devotees complete their pilgrimage safely and without hardship.
