Omega Elevators have received the letter of Acceptance (LoA) for a contract valued at ₹12.1 crore. The work revolves around providing travelators for facilitating a more convenient and direct connection between the metro station and the RRTS station.

The scope of work would include design, manufacturing, installation, testing, commissioning and supply of travelators on the Footover Bridge between Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) Metro Station and Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station under the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor.

How Would This Boost Metro Red Line Footfall?

While the actual physical distance between the two stations is not enormous, the walking distance could be time-consuming and tiring at the same time, especially for elderly passengers, those with luggage or daily office-goers and students rushing against the clock. By reducing walking time and effort, the system will provide a smoother and more efficient interchange experience.

The travelator’s installation is likely to significantly reduce walking time while also easing congestion on the footover bridge, especially during peak hours. This would help in considerably enhancing the overall interchange experience for commuters.

By easing movement between the Red Line metro and the Namo Bharat corridor, the travelator is expected to eliminate a key friction point in the commuter journey. For those traveling between Ghaziabad, Delhi and Meerut, the improved connectivity could encourage a shift from private vehicles to public transport. Moreover, easing congestion at the interchange point can improve overall passenger satisfaction.
