In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a 9-year-old boy committed suicide by using his own school tie after getting an warning from his mother for playing with a bicycle.
The victim, named Vivek Kumar, was a third-grade student. His mother asked him to eat when he got home from school in the afternoon. While Vivek went outside to play with his cycle, his brother Himanshu started eating.
Vivek’s mother chased him down and scolded him for playing instead of eating. The nine-year-old was so furious over this that he skipped dinner. Then Vivek hung himself with his school tie while using the loo.
Ashok Kumar Singh, an additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP), reported that the boy had strangled himself with his school tie. A postmortem on the victim has been completed.
