Lucknow Viral Video: A six-year-old boy lost his life and five others were severely injured after a class 12 student rammed his Swift Dzire car into pedestrians in Lucknow’s Banthara area on Kanpur Road around 6 pm.

The Class 12th student studying at the Avadh College was returning from a school farewell to his home along with his girlfriend.
Gaurav Singh’s speeding car struck an auto-rickshaw and pedestrians near the Hanuman Temple. The accused dropped off his girlfriend after the incident.

In the accident, 60-year-old Meena Devi, 35-year-old Sadhna Verma, 42-year-old Awadh Bihari and 12-year-old Armaan were injured while the 6-year-old Dikshant Patel lost his life. Dikshant was the son of Sadhna Vermaand the grandson of Meena Devi.
The young boy suffered severe head injury and succumbed during medical treatment. CCTV footage of the hit-and-run surfaced and the driver has been detained now by the police while the vehicle has been seized.
Police Reaction
Rajnish Sharma, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Lucknow, remarked that a case has been registered under different sections associated with negligent and rash driving among several other charges. The ACP added that it was claimed by the driver that the accident happened after one of the vehicle’s tyres burst.
The accused had borrowed the car of a friend to attend the school’s farewell function. After the function, Gaurav dropped 3 of his four friends before his vehicle rammed into auto-rickshaw and pedestrians. It was remarked by the police that the girl passengers immediately got out of the car and was detained after she was handed over to the police by locals. The accused tried to flee, leaving behind the vehicle but was tracked down before being taken into police custody.
The Lucknow hit-and-run case comes close on the heels of the recent Kanpur’s Lamborghini crash case, raising serious concerns over young people driving vehicles.
