As Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's popularity continues to rise across Uttar Pradesh and beyond, whispers about his potential elevation to the role of Prime Minister are becoming more frequent in political circles. However, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has poured cold water on those ambitions with a firm statement: “There is no vacancy in Delhi.”

BJP MP's Blunt Message to Yogi Supporters

In a recent podcast, Dubey addressed growing speculation around CM Yogi Adityanath’s potential national role. He said, “People vote for Narendra Modi, not Yogi Adityanath. As long as Modi is around, no other leader can claim the Prime Minister's chair.”

Dubey’s remarks come at a time when many BJP supporters, especially in UP, view Yogi Adityanath as a natural successor to Prime Minister Modi. From Purvanchal to Western UP, and across the nation, the saffron-clad CM has amassed a huge base of supporters who envision him one day hoisting the national flag from the Red Fort.

"Popularity Doesn’t Guarantee Power"

Refuting the idea that popularity alone can determine leadership, Dubey added, “Even leaders like Himanta Biswa Sarma and Devendra Fadnavis are popular, as is Home Minister Amit Shah. But that does not mean they are in the running for PM.”

Social Media Reacts Sharply

A video of Dubey’s comments, shared by X user Mamta Tripathi, has gone viral, triggering a wave of reactions online. Many BJP and Yogi supporters expressed disappointment, accusing the party leadership of sidelining grassroots sentiments.

A Blow to Yogi's Loyal Base?

The statement has particularly disheartened Yogi's loyal followers, who have long seen him as a national leader capable of taking the BJP to new heights. Many have been vocal about their wish to see him succeed PM Modi in the future.

Political Signal or Personal Opinion?

It remains unclear whether Dubey’s remarks reflect an internal party position or are his personal views. Nonetheless, his comments are being seen as a significant moment in BJP’s internal dynamics—particularly as the party prepares for future elections and possible transitions in leadership.

For now, one thing is certain: the BJP continues to project Prime Minister Modi as its undisputed national face, and any talk of succession—no matter how popular the leader—remains off the table.
