UP’s First Integrated Township Set to Transform Meerut: MEDA Speeds Up Development Work

Once completed, the township is expected to emerge as Western UP’s central urban hub, combining modern amenities

Meerut is gearing up for a major infrastructure boost as Uttar Pradesh’s first-ever integrated township moves into its execution phase. After Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed the Bhoomi Pujan and foundation stone laying, the project—considered one of the state’s most ambitious urban developments—is now accelerating under the Meerut Development Authority (MEDA).

In a high-level meeting, MEDA Vice Chairman Sanjay Kumar Meena directed officials to prioritise the project and fast-track ground activity. Under Phase One, MEDA will develop 50 hectares of the township, with plot allocation expected to begin in January 2026. The layout is being prepared by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) under its Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) model, making the township one of the most strategically planned in Western Uttar Pradesh.

MEDA Speeds Up Development Work

Spread across a prime location, the township will feature wide roads, feeder routes for enhanced village connectivity, and direct access to the Delhi–Meerut RRTS corridor, making it a future hub of residential and commercial growth. MEDA plans to develop dedicated zones for housing, education, healthcare, commercial spaces, group housing, health clubs, and public amenities.

The township is designed for all income categories—including High Income Group (HIG), Middle Income Group (MIG), Low Income Group (LIG), and EWS. Large plots have also been earmarked to attract private investors for group housing projects. The authority plans to execute the project through a combination of self-development and public–private partnerships.

Under the Master Plan 2031, Meerut’s urban boundaries have expanded significantly. Special Development Areas (SDAs) have been declared in Peretapur (288.79 hectares) and Modipuram (457.06 hectares). As per TOD policy, areas within 1.5 km of the RRTS corridor and 500 metres around stations will be prioritised for mixed land use and commercial upliftment.

MEDA officials confirmed that land purchase and demarcation have already begun, clearing the way for structured development. Once completed, the township is expected to emerge as Western UP’s central urban hub, combining modern amenities with unmatched regional connectivity.
