Uttar Pradesh: Pastor detained in Rampur, for alleged conversion, Case filed

Uttar Pradesh: According to police, a pastor was detained in the neighbouring Rampur district for allegedly encouraging some members of a Scheduled Caste to become Christians.

Pastor Paulus Masih is accused of converting villagers

According to them, a complaint that Pastor Paulus Masih was allegedly attempting to convert residents of Sohna village inside the boundaries of the Patwai police station on the occasion of Christmas led to his detention late Sunday night.

Case has been registered against the pastor

According to police sources, a case has been filed under sections 3 and 5(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021.

According to additional superintendent of police Sansar Singh, the priest was detained on the basis of a complaint made by Rajeev Yadav of the same village to SHO, Patwai, Harendra Yadav.
