Vande Bharat Train: Kashi to Khajuraho and Lucknow to Saharanpur, PM Modi Green Lights 4 State of the Art Trains, CM Yogi Adityanath Lauds Infra Push

India’s semi-high-speed Vande Bharat fleet continues to expand, with two important new routes, Kashi to Khajuraho and Lucknow to Saharanpur, officially flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The launch was part of a larger rollout involving four new Vande Bharat trains, a move the government says will dramatically improve regional mobility and bring modern rail travel deeper into northern India.

The ceremony, held via video conference, highlighted the government’s ongoing emphasis on transport infrastructure, technology upgrades, and passenger comfort. Modi noted that the Vande Bharat trains have been “transformational in redefining travel speed and efficiency”, especially for states witnessing rapid economic development.

Major Boost for Uttar Pradesh’s Rail Network

The two new routes running through Uttar Pradesh were the clear highlights of the day. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the additions, calling them “proof of the state’s unprecedented infrastructure momentum”. He emphasized that improved rail connectivity directly supports investment, tourism, and ease of travel across smaller cities that previously The Kashi-Khajuraho Vande Bharat is anticipated to greatly enhance tourism by connecting the spiritual hub of Varanasi with the UNESCO-listed temples at Khajuraho. The Lucknow-Saharanpur line will facilitate intra-state travel by saving time and providing a higher-quality alternative to road travel. 

Four Trains, One Purpose: Travel Faster, Safer, and Smoother 

The four newly introduced Vande Bharat trains will incorporate new safety systems, enhanced passenger conveniences, and next-generation control systems. The Railways Ministry cited upgrades such as increased suspension comfort levels, quieter cabins, and new infotainment systems meant to facilitate long-distance comfort.

The inclusion of new routes in Uttar Pradesh reflects a strategic push to make high-speed travel accessible beyond metro-to-metro corridors. According to officials, more routes are under consideration as manufacturing capacity continues to increase.

A Step Forward for Regional Connectivity

Both the central and state governments positioned today’s rollout as part of a broader campaign to modernise India’s railway infrastructure. It is intended that the new Vande Bharat services will stimulate tourism, economic activities, and create jobs while providing commuters with a fast, clean, and efficient way to travel.
