DRDO fires Nirbhay cruise missile into sea

DRDO successfully test-fired the Nirbhay cruise missile in the Bay of Bengal from the Integrated Test Range in Odisha. The missile was to be launched in the Bay of Bengal at 10:30 am.

But the mission had to be postponed within eight minutes. The Nirbhay missile will be inducted into the forces after the next round of tests.

“The missile was fired at 10.30 am from the testing facility,” a government official said. “But the missile developed a snag and the trial was aborted 8 minutes later,” the official said.

Nirbhay was the 10th missile to be fired by the DRDO during the last 35 days, an average of a missile every four days.

Also, India’s emphasis on increasing development and deployment weapons is a response to China’s mobilisation of troops.
