Scheduled Caste Minor Girl Humiliated Over Periods, Mother Records Incident
What makes the Coimbatore video even more troubling is the background of the minor girl. As reported by Times of India, she belongs to a Scheduled Caste. The school’s discriminatory action towards a menstruating student from a marginalised background has raised serious questions about inclusivity and dignity in educational institutions.
Her mother, deeply shocked by the way her daughter was treated, decided to record the incident. In the now-viral Coimbatore video, the Class 8th minor girl can be seen sitting outside the classroom, visibly uncomfortable, as she writes her exam during her menstruation.

According to sources, the minor girl was first made to sit on the school stairs to write her exam on April 7. It wasn’t until April 9 that her mother visited the school and witnessed the same scene—her daughter still sitting outside due to being on her periods.
The Coimbatore video has since gone viral and is now the centre of public debate. Social media users are condemning the incident, calling it a violation of human rights and demanding strict action against the school authorities.
