Kingdom Box Office Collection Day 1: Vijay Deverakonda Starrer Falls Flat Despite Excessive Marketing, Opens Lower Than His Bollywood FLOP!

Vijay Deverakonda’s much-anticipated spy action film Kingdom finally released in cinemas on 31 July after several delays. The film had a massive promotional run and high expectations, but it didn’t manage to live up to the buzz at the box office. As per reports from Sacnilk, the Kingdom box office collection on Day 1 stood at Rs 15.50 crore. While the number isn’t bad, it feels underwhelming given the scale of the campaign.

Kingdom Box Office Collection Day 1: Lower Than Liger

Compared to Vijay’s past releases, Kingdom has performed better than The Family Star, which made Rs 5.75 crore on its first day. It also slightly beat Kushi, which opened at Rs 15.25 crore in 2022. However, Kingdom fell short of Liger, which remains Vijay’s biggest Day 1 opener with Rs 15.95 crore.

The Telugu version of the film had an overall occupancy of 57.87% on opening day. Morning shows recorded 63.56% footfall, but there was a dip in the afternoon and evening. Night shows improved slightly, with a 61.27% turnout. These numbers suggest moderate interest from viewers despite the star power.

Vijay Deverakonda Starrer Faces Tough Competition

Kingdom didn’t have a smooth ride on Day 1, as it faced strong competition from several other releases. Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, is already a major box office hit with collections crossing Rs 270 crore. Films like Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit, Mahavatar Narsimha, Dhadak 2, and Son of Sardaar 2 are also sharing screen space and drawing in audiences.

About Kingdom

The story of Kingdom revolves around Suri, a police constable who becomes a spy. His mission takes him to Sri Lanka, where he’s tasked with a government operation and is also searching for his missing brother Siva, played by Satyadev. Bhagyashri Borse plays Suri’s love interest. The film mixes action, emotion, and patriotism, ending with a cliffhanger that surprised viewers.

Producer Naga Vamsi later confirmed at a press event, “A sequel to the film will be made soon.” This indicates that Kingdom is the start of a planned franchise.

Critics praised Vijay’s performance in the film and said that Vijay finally gets his redemption arc with Kingdom (both as an actor and character). However, many felt the second half of the movie dragged due to a messy screenplay. While some appreciated the storyline, audience reactions ranged from mixed to negative, pointing out the lack of a strong emotional connection.

The Kingdom box office collection on Day 1 may not be a blockbuster figure, but it marks a steady comeback for Vijay Deverakonda. With a sequel confirmed and buzz still active, the film could grow in the coming days. Still, the first-day numbers prove that big promotions and star power don’t always lead to instant success.
