Priyanka Gandhi’s choice of bags has become a talking point. The Wayanad MP few days back was spotted with a handbag displaying the word “Palestine” alongside Palestinian symbols. The bag included a watermelon, an emblem of solidarity for Palestine. The following day, she turned heads again with another bold statement—a bag reading ‘Bangladesh’.

In a move that added fuel to the fire, BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi gave Priyanka Gandhi a bag featuring the year ‘1984’. For many, this number carries heavy historical significance, referencing the tragic 1984 anti-Sikh riots following the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Sarangi’s gesture, shared widely on social media, was labeled as a clever political maneuver to make a pointed statement in Priyanka’s style. 

BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi  retweeted a video on her X account with a video of a bag that had '1984' written on it. The caption of the video reads, “Gandhigiri of BJP MP! BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi gave a bag with '1984' written on it to Priyanka Gandhi. 1984 was the year of massacre of Sikhs after the assassination of Indira Gandhi. Priyanka has been in the news for carrying a bag in Parliament, now a BJP MP has cornered her in her own language.”

The bag incident occurred just a day after a heated confrontation in Parliament, where BJP and Congress MPs clashed over an Ambedkar-related issue.
