Viral video: A video showing two Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) jawans abusing and violently hitting a specially-abled man who simply asked them for water has gone viral on social media platforms, stirring anger and concern.

Shocking incident unfolds in Deoria

Sachin, who works as a SIM seller and a restaurant delivery boy, spotted a turtle on the road during his late-night journey and decided to help it by relocating it to a nearby pond near Dugdheshwarnath temple.

After returning from the pond, Sachin approached the two PRD jawans on duty and politely asked for some water, explaining that his hands smelled after handling the turtle. However, instead of providing assistance, the jawans responded with threats of imprisonment and proceeded to physically assault him.

Victim’s account of the assault

In Sachin’s own words, “They, however, started threatening to put me in jail and beat me up. They also snatched the key to my tricycle.” When he protested against their mistreatment, the situation escalated, and the jawans subjected him to further violence.

Taking prompt action, Chief Development Officer Ravindra Kumar formed an investigation team led by three officers to probe the incident. Additionally, SP Sankalp Sharma confirmed that the two PRD jawans involved in the assault, identified as Rajendra Mani and Abhishek Singh, have been removed from duty, and their affiliation with the police department has been terminated.
