Although the video doesn’t show the assault, the Bangladeshi fan’s hospitalisation and the controversy surrounding his words have sparked widespread debate.
Bangladesh Fan Attacked During IND vs BAN 2nd Test in Kanpur
According to a tweet shared by the handle ‘Ghar Ke Kalesh’ on X (formerly Twitter), Tiger Robi allegedly used inappropriate language aimed at Indian star bowler Mohammed Siraj. The viral video has sparked a flood of reactions on social media. Some users commented on the incident, with one saying, “Uttar Pradesh mei apka swagat hai,” while another remarked, “Jaisi karni Waisi bharni.”
The Bangladeshi fan was found by local police officers near the C block entrance of the stadium. According to media reports, a police officer on the scene said, “One of our officers found him gasping for breath, and he was struggling to speak. It seems like a case of dehydration, but we will wait for the doctors’ advice.”
At the moment, it is unclear if the fan’s condition worsened due to the attack or due to dehydration. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected soon.
IND vs BAN Test 2nd Test Match Update
The test match continued uninterrupted despite the off-field incident. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. By lunch, India had already gained control of the match, with Akash Deep taking two crucial wickets and removing both Bangladesh openers.
Post-lunch, Indian spinner R. Ashwin claimed the wicket of Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hussain Shanto. India’s bowlers are firmly on top in the opening day of the IND vs BAN 2nd Test.
