Viral Video: The beat of the dhol and drums are so energizing and irresistible that no one can resist dancing to it. The same can be said for British Member of Parliament, Jeremy Corbyn. A video clip has surfaced online and is going viral of the British politician grooving to the beats of the dhol at a Pakistani baraat function.
The video shows a rejoicing crowd dressed up in traditional outfits, at the centre of which is Mr. Corbyn doing bhangra along with a man. The clip was reportedly recorded outside Royal Court Hotel Coventry, in the UK.
Mr. Corbyn is seen to be trying his best to keep up with the other man who seems like a seasoned dancer. Moments later, another guest at the wedding procession suggests lifting Mr. Corbyn as done at most desi weddings. The Member of Parliament is then seen doing the bhangra while on the shoulders of two men.
“Jeremy Corbyn at a Pakistani wedding today,” the caption read.
The video has garnered more than 100k views on Twitter and over 7k likes, eliciting amusing reactions from netizens.
One user joked that the MP, who is 73 years old, looked more energetic than him.
Another highlighted Mr. Corbyn’s struggle to mimic the moves of the guy dancing next to him, saying “Corben is constantly trying to high-five the guy.”
According to a local newspaper, the Parliamentarian was invited to the wedding as a special guest. The man dancing with him in the video was identified as Tayab Naveed, who persuaded the politician to display some moves.
“I went up to him to say “Hello’ and then got chatting to him. He shook my hand and then I told him he had to dance with me when he arrives,” Mr. Tayab said.
